No More iPhone
Well, the iPhone didn't last long. I thought I'd find more uses for it, but I did not, so I got rid of it. Was planning on using it for testing, but wasn't really in a mood to do any development lately. I ended up using it to browse the web in the bathroom and to play Bejeweled (now I'm playing JewelQuest on my Nokia). Sold it for $150, so back to where I started, not too bad.

Another Day Another Nail in the Tire
Just got a nail in one of my car tires, and wow, I can't believe the size of it. How in the world did it end up in my tire? Anyhow, it's been patched, hope it doesn't cause any problems like the patch on my other tire. This is the third year for my car, will have to get new tires at the end of this year. Luckily, I already have a new set with new rims, hopefully the rubber is still good on them. I heard tires should last at least 6 years, so this should be perfect.

I'm Probably an Idiot
So I finally got myself an iPhone 2G for $150, but it's not what I expected. Although it works fine, it's a little banged up and there are some dead spots and lines on the LCD (probably from a drop). After over a month of trying I gave up and figure this is the best I can do. Every works, upgraded it to 3.1.3 and jailbroken, so far so good, except for the screen that is. Good thing I wasn't planning on using it as my main phone, it's pretty banged up, surprised it still works. It's a new toy to use at home and the bathroom.
Why don't I just get an iPod Touch for $200? The iPhone gets OS updates for free while the iPod Touch updates are not. Since I also plan on using it for testing, I want to be running the latest OS. Plus, if I really need to, I can plug in my SIM and use it as a phone and access the Internet. I may want to get an iPod Touch too, most likely a new one this time.

Mobile Photostream
I updated the module on the right side to be a mobile photostream module. It's taking photos from my flickr photostream, which is coming directly from my phone. Pretty cool stuff, they've made it so easy now. My Nokia N78 actually had the ability to upload to flickr built in. I used to do this many years ago, but I did it on my own with a server in my home checking a mailbox every 15 minutes for photos then taking the photos and FTPing them to my website. Of course I couldn't actually email photos from my phone back then, but Sprint's Vision plan came with the ability to upload all my mobile photos to their website for storage. And from there I can share it, which would send out an email that my little bot can check and grab the photo from. It was interesting for a while, but not worth running the server 24/7. Ah, the good old days.

Five Boro Bike Tour
Registered up for the Five Boro Bike Tour once again this year, it gets more expensive every year. But it's worth it, it's lot of biking fun without traffic. Got an email saying there's only 1000 more spots left, so register if you haven't. This year I'm most likely going to leave the mountain bike home and take my Dahon Boardwalk S1. It'll be interesting doing this tour on at 20" single speed folder, I'll have to walk up the hill with this bike.

It's Toyota Time
I already have a Honda, but if I were in the market for a car, now's a good time to get a Toyota. With all this bad press, Toyotas must be pretty affordable right now. They are still very good and reliable cars. If it's really as bad as it sounds on TV and the papers we should be seeing Toyotas crashing everywhere, but we don't, because it's not that bad.

Twitter... Phone
I can't believe it, first Facebook and now I just joined Twitter. Yea, I'm a little behind the curve, but I just can't see it being that useful for me. But whatever, I'll give it a try. I'm @tinlaudotcom, my name wasn't available unfortunately.
I'm still looking for a phone. Do I want an iPhone, Android or should I wait for the new Windows phone? Right now I'm trying to find a cheap old iPhone 2g to hold me over until the iPhone 4G and Windows Phone 7 come out so I can compare. But man, even the iPhone 2g being a couple of years old is going for a crazy amount of money. Trying to get a fully working one that's not too banged up for under $150, and no luck so far.

iPad... WTF?
What? This is what the whole Internet was all worked up about? I haven't seen one so I'm not gonna say it sucks or anything, but it's...uh, a giant iPod Touch. It's even got the home button on the bottom and runs the same OS. Now don't get me wrong, if this thing runs OSX and is still $499 for the low end model I'll be all over it. But it doesn't, so to me the use is pretty limited. I'll wait for the Windows 7 tablets.
